How to handle sales objections
An objection is not a no — it is a missing piece of information. Here is the framework closers use, and how Ultimate Closer writes the rebuttal for you.
The four-step objection framework
Run every objection through the same sequence so your response never depends on how the call is going.
1. Repeat it back
Restate the objection in the prospect's language before answering. It proves you listened and stops you from rebutting the wrong concern.
2. Isolate the real blocker
Ask whether this is the only thing standing between them and a yes. Most stalls collapse into one issue: budget, authority, timing or perceived risk.
3. Answer with evidence
Respond with a specific outcome, a comparable customer situation, or the exact term from your offer — not with pressure or a discount.
4. Re-ask for the close
Every handled objection ends with a question. If you do not ask again, you have only had a conversation.
Five common objections and the play
| Objection | How to handle it |
|---|---|
| It's too expensive. | Reframe against the cost of the problem staying unsolved, then offer a narrower starting scope instead of cutting price. |
| Send me some information. | Agree, then ask what decision the information needs to support. Book the follow-up before you send anything. |
| We already use someone else. | Ask what they would change about the current setup. Sell the gap, not the switch. |
| I need to talk to my partner / team. | Ask what they will be asked, and arm them with that answer. Offer to join the conversation. |
| Now isn't the right time. | Find out what makes a later date better. If nothing changes by then, timing is not the real objection. |
How Objection Crusher works
- Paste the objection exactly as the prospect wrote or said it — email, DM or call note.
- Ultimate Closer reads your offer — description, pricing tiers, qualification criteria and FAQ pairs saved in the Offers Manager become the source of truth.
- You get three rebuttals ranked by close probability, written in your voice so you can send or say them as-is.
- Replies get scored in the Visual CRM, so the next follow-up already knows where the deal stands.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best way to handle a sales objection?
Acknowledge the concern in the prospect's own words, confirm you understood it, then answer with evidence rather than pressure. Objections are requests for information or reassurance — treat them as buying signals, not rejections.
How do you handle the price objection?
Move the conversation from cost to cost of inaction. Reframe the price against the measurable outcome the prospect already told you they want, and offer a smaller starting scope instead of discounting.
What should you do when a prospect says 'I need to think about it'?
Ask which specific part still feels unresolved. A vague stall usually hides one concrete blocker — budget authority, timing, or risk — and naming it lets you answer it.
